Sustainable Development Goals

On 25th September 2015, world leaders agreed to a definitive plan for the planet and the people on it by adopting 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The goals are interconnected and they apply to all the countries and do not leave anyone behind.

193 governments have signed up – if they stick to the plan, the results will be extraordinary. For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part – The UN, National and Local Governments, Youth Groups, Civil Society Organisations, the Media, and the Private Sector, and people like you and us.

Why SDGS

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
